What's the Best AI Video Editor for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve?
If you already edit in Premiere or Resolve, you don’t want an AI tool that traps your work or messes up a project you’ve spent weeks on. Most editors want to give it hours of footage, describe the story and get a timeline they can still edit, with their original footage and their own project kept safe.
The best option depends on where you want to work. If you want the AI inside your editing app, look at tools like Spingle. If you want to direct the edit in conversation and then bring it into your app, we built Ponder for that.
What should I check before I choose?
These four questions tell you the most:
- Does it make story decisions? Some tools only find clips or remove silences.
- Can I direct it in plain words? You should be able to say what isn’t working and get a new version.
- Is the result editable? You want a real timeline with your original clips, not a flattened video.
- What carries over? Test your own multicam, audio and slow-motion clips before you commit.
How does Ponder work with Premiere and Resolve?
You edit in Ponder first and then send the timeline to your app, and your original clips aren’t changed. Bring in your footage, describe the story you want, review the cut and give notes in plain words, then send it to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and finish there.
Build a 3-minute story from these interviews. Open with the strongest moment, cut anything that repeats, and use b-roll to cover the jumps.
The tradeoff is that you start in a separate app. In return, you can see each step, review the selects and direct the whole cut before it reaches your project. See what carries over to your editing app.
How do I test it fairly?
Give every tool the same footage and the same brief, then judge the story, the shot choices, how well it takes notes and how much cleanup the timeline needs in your app.
Ponder doesn’t run inside Premiere or Resolve. You work in Ponder and then send the timeline to your editing app, which can also be Final Cut or CapCut.
Is it free to try?
Yes, there’s a Ponder free trial, so you can use a project you’ve already cut and compare the result with your own edit.
If you love it, you can keep going for free by inviting a friend. Click the invite button in Ponder, and your friend gets a free month of Starter, then you get one too once they make and export their first cut.
