Can AI Learn Your Editing Style?

Our problem with most AI editors is that the first cut could have come from anyone, so you spend your time dragging it back to how you actually edit.

AI can learn your style. If you show Ponder videos you’ve already made, it cuts your new footage with your pacing, cuts and captions. We wanted the first cut to already feel like your work, so you still make the calls without starting from zero every time.

Is there an AI I can teach to edit videos using my own raw files?

Yes, that’s what we built. You teach Ponder with your past videos, bring in your raw footage and tell it what you want. You don’t need to train a model or write a long brief, because your old edits already show how you work.

What can Ponder pick up from my videos?

Ponder learns how your videos are paced and put together:

  • Your pacing and where you tend to cut
  • Your captions, on-screen text and motion graphics
  • Your transitions
  • Your color tendencies
  • How you structure a story

Give it examples close to what you’re making. A wedding film and a talking-head ad don’t move the same way, so they should probably be different styles.

If you only want to copy one thing from an unrelated video, like the color, the motion graphics or a specific effect, you can do that too.

How do I teach Ponder my style?

Our favorite way is to start in a project, where you can add everything in. Then ask Ponder to make a style from it, or click Make Style from the Style tab in that project. You can also go to the Customize tab, open Styles and create one there by talking to the agent.

Either way, it takes a few minutes:

  1. Add your best examples. Use the videos that look most like you, and if they’re on YouTube, you can add your channel.
  2. Check what Ponder picked up. Change anything that doesn’t sound like how you work.
  3. Use it on real footage. Bring in a new project, pick your style and say what you want.

What if the first cut isn’t quite my style?

Tell Ponder what’s off in plain words, or talk through it in review mode, where you can point and scribble on the frame instead of typing.

Cut faster in the first 10 seconds, and stop using zooms. Remember this for my future videos.

Ponder saves notes like that, so you don’t have to give them again.

Will it edit exactly like me?

No. Expect a head start on the first try, not a perfect match. Ponder does the heavy lifting on the first pass, and then you direct it or finish the edit yourself.

When you want to take over, send the timeline to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or CapCut. See what carries over to your editing app.

Can I have different styles for different clients?

Yes, you can make one per client or per type of video, so each new cut starts in the right look. Here’s how to manage multiple video editing clients.

Is it free to try?

Yes, there’s a Ponder free trial, so you can add a few of your past videos, bring in one real project and judge the first cut for yourself.

If you love it, you can keep going for free by inviting a friend. Click the invite button in Ponder, and your friend gets a free month of Starter, then you get one too once they make and export their first cut.
