How to Edit a Multicam Podcast or Interview With AI
A multicam shoot means hours of footage times every camera, and you can lose a whole day syncing and scrubbing before you make a single creative decision. We built Ponder to organize the footage and build a starting point, so you get to the editing sooner.
In Ponder, you can bring up to four camera angles together in one synced, nested group, review a first pass, shape the cut yourself, and then carry it into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut.
How do I get a first pass?
Tell Ponder what you’re working with and what you want to make. It organizes the footage and builds a first pass for you to review, with selects, stringouts and a rough cut you can shape. More on that in How to Turn Hours of Footage Into a Rough Cut With AI.
How do I clean up what people said?
Open the transcript and delete the words, ums and tangents you don’t want, and they’re cut from the video. On a podcast or interview, that’s usually faster than trimming clip by clip.
What else should I know?
- How many camera angles can I use? Up to four in one synced, nested group, which you can review in Ponder.
- How do I find what was said without scrubbing? Topic-level stringouts show what’s being talked about at any moment, which is a big help when you need one answer out of two hours of talking.
- Can I give Ponder a script or my questions? Yes, you can add scripts, shot lists or creative briefs, and Ponder keeps referencing them for the whole project.
- Can I finish in my own editing app? Yes, you can take the edit into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut, and you can use those apps’ default shortcuts in Ponder too.
Is it free to try?
Yes, there’s a Ponder free trial, so you can bring in one multicam shoot and see how far the first pass gets.
If you love it, you can keep going for free by inviting a friend. Click the invite button in Ponder, and your friend gets a free month of Starter, then you get one too once they make and export their first cut.
