Chats
The chat is where you tell the agent what you want. Say what you’re making, what matters most, and anything that has to stay put. The agent might ask you a few questions, then it goes through your footage and gets to work. You can have several chats open at once. They all share the same Media Pool and timelines. See Chats and models.Working across projects
Switch between projects from the sidebar, and you’ll pick up right where you left off. Anything you started in one project, like a chat, an import or an export, keeps going in the background while you work in another. You can see at a glance which projects are still working, which ones need you and which are done, and keep the ones you use most close at hand. You can also hand Ponder files or folders from your computer and ask it to bring them into a project, or to copy media from one project to another. It checks with you before it deletes anything. The Media Pool
The Media Pool is everything in your project: footage, audio, images, and documents like scripts or briefs. It’s what the agent works from. See Footage prep.Timelines
Your edits live on timelines, and a project can have as many as you need, like sync groups, stringouts, a rough cut, or a couple of versions of the same cut. When you ask for a change, mention which timeline you mean.Make Ponder yours
Everything that shapes how the agent works is in Settings → Skills & connectors. You don’t have to set any of it up before your first project, and you can change all of it by asking in the chat.Identity
Your Identity is whatever holds true across all your work: how tight you cut dialogue, how long you hold B-roll, how you name things, how you shoot. You’ll find it in Settings → Skills & connectors → Skills → Identity, or you can just tell Ponder:Add this to my identity: I shoot wides first, then go back for details, so file numbers aren’t in room order. If you already keep your preferences in a document, click Replace from Markdown to load them in. Heads up that this replaces your current Identity. Leave one-off rules out of your Identity. Rules for a specific kind of task work better as a skill, and anything about one project belongs in memory.
Skills
A skill is a set of instructions for one kind of task, and Ponder only pulls it in when that task comes up. It comes with skills built in for things like planning and making an edit, footage prep, color, generating media and sending to your editing app. To add your own, click + Add in Settings → Skills & connectors → Skills, or ask Ponder to write one for you:Write a skill for how I cut church videos.
I added finished examples to this folder. Study them and write a skill for how I edit corporate interview pieces.
Memory
Ponder holds on to useful context as you work, so it isn’t starting from zero on your next project. There’s one memory about you and one for each project, and you can find them in Settings → Skills & connectors → Skills → Memory. To add something, just say it in the chat:Remember that I keep B-roll under 2 seconds. It’s worth opening Memory afterwards to make sure it saved what you meant. Ponder can also borrow from your other projects:
Use the same lower thirds I used in my last project.
