Several chats at once

You can open more than one chat, each in its own tab, and the agent will work on them at the same time. Every chat in a project shares the same Media Pool and timelines, so a new chat isn’t a fresh copy of your edit. If you want a different version of the cut, ask for a separate timeline. To try a different direction without losing the first one, click Duplicate chat from here on any of the agent’s replies. To go back, click Revert to here on one of your own messages. By default this undoes only the chat. To undo the agent’s edits as well, choose Chat and timeline changes.

What to use a new chat for

Each chat is its own conversation with the agent, inside the same project. People tend to use them like this:
  • one chat for footage prep and another for the edit,
  • a chat just for one job, like color, audio, captions or delivery,
  • a chat to try out a different direction without cluttering the main one,
  • a chat for side questions, so they don’t get mixed in with your editing notes.
Your Identity, skills and memory carry into every chat, but a new chat doesn’t know what you said in the others. Give it a short brief and tell it which timeline to work on.

Choose a model

You can pick the model, how deeply it thinks and how fast it runs right from the chat box. Every model you have access to is listed there. The same menu has Proactivity, which sets how much the agent takes the lead. Just do it does what you ask with as few questions as possible, Balanced finishes the job and suggests a few follow-ups, and Proactive works out what you need, looks for the skills, tools and references to do it (even searching online), then suggests what’s next. Proactive is the default, and your choice applies to all your chats. If you’d like the agent to run on a ChatGPT or Claude plan you already pay for, see Use your own AI plan. To see how many credits a chat used, see Credits and AI plans.

Leave comments

Leave notes on the moments you want changed, then send them to Ponder one at a time or all at once. See Comments.

Talk instead of typing

There’s a mic in the chat box, and it’s often quicker to talk through what you want than to write it all out. Hold ⇧⌘D to speak, or tap it to go hands-free. Some keyboard presets use a different key. See Keyboard shortcuts. In the desktop app you can also talk with one key: hold fn on a Mac, or Ctrl+Win on Windows, and let go when you’re done. Tap it to go hands-free and tap it again to finish. If you’d rather keep that key for something else, turn it off under Voice in the chat box’s settings menu.

Paste images

Paste a screenshot or an image from your browser into the chat, timeline, preview or a comment, and it lands in your project as a clip.

Ask about your footage

The agent can watch your footage, or a video from a link, and answer questions about what’s in it.
